Welcome to the Canada Hindu Heritage Centre Website
Over the last two hundred years our people have migrated to many countries where we have prospered in all areas and made great contributions to those countries. In Canada, we have the privilege to create the environment and institutions where we can maintain our way of life and be close to our religious and cultural roots. We have reached a stage where we must go beyond the religious needs and have equal emphasis on the general needs of our community. Continue >>
Happy Diwali!
October, 28 2008

ImageMay the occasion of Diwali ignite a brilliant light of appreciation, compassion and humility in all of our hearts and may we be blessed to see clearly the vision of our purpose in this world. May we be full of Joy and inner peace, may we experience the sweet fragrance and intimate warmth of the gentle flames of Deeyas lit to show the light of enlightenment. May we carry the torch of respect for human life and love for all, May we live in peace and Harmony.

Happy Diwali and Mother Lakshmie’s blessings.

Addressing Domestic Violence
October, 20 2008

Recently there has been a spate of violent deaths in Region of Peel. There have been 24 homicides so far in Peel this year- 15 in Mississauga and 9 in Brampton as compared to 17 homicides in 2007.

When family violence and substance abuse occur together, the impact of each problem gets intensified. Despite similarities we need to recognize that each problem needs to be addressed separately, without assuming that addressing one will take care of the other.

Recognizing the link between family violence and substance abuse, a symposium on domestic violence is being organised by Mississauga Ram Mandir on 2nd November 2008, where communities are being asked to develop coordinated plans for responding to domestic violence.

We take this opportunity to extend an invitation to all the community members in Peel Region to attend the program as follows:

Time: 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Date: November 2nd, 2008
Place: Mississauga Ram Mandir
270 Export Blvd., Mississauga
Tel.: 905-696-8886

A working-session shall bring together professionals from human services, law enforcement, legal, medical, and other agencies to respond to domestic violence. The information will be collated and sent to the group for further action.
